As I said in the previous post, the first key to effective sponsoring/recruiting a direct sales business is to constantly be generating leads. The easiest and most productive place to find them is at your parties, so you should be playing a recruiting game at EVERY PARTY. Yes, this will feel awkward at first, but trust me, it gets to be second nature and is WAY less awkward than stalking unemployed friends on Facebook.
This particular recruiting game was introduced at Pure Romance National Training last year and it pure genius, because it allows to you to answer the most common questions people have about the business, telling your own story, getting them to consider the opportunity and allows you to offer the opportunity to EVERY GUEST without putting anyone one the spot.
“Date Night” Recruiting Game (based on the 8 Questions Game)
Step 1: Business Questions
Supplies: The original version had you put each of the 8 questions on a card and in a colorful envelope with the corresponding number on the outside. I did a riff on this by printing the questions on labels and putting them on our Date Night Game cards. In doing so, I get to play this game and demo an additional product.
You begin by handing out these cards to your guests (I do this in the middle of my demo between mild products and toys). And then I have the guests read off their cards one at a time as I answer the questions.
- How much does it cost to get started?
- How soon can I move up to a leadership position?
- What type of training will I receive?
- Would I be required to work a certain amount of time?
- What are the perks for Pure Romance Consultants?
- How much money can I make with Pure Romance?
- What do you like most about your Pure Romance business?
- When do I get paid?
You can check out the stock answers here. I am a usually a little more off the cuff at parties, but it is best to keep your answers short.
Step 2: Tell your story
Instead of telling it at the beginning, I tell my PR story at this point. Here is a post on telling your why story.
Step 3: Ask the Guests to Respond
I have them write their answers on a piece of paper.
- Please tell me about you—are you a stay-at-home mom, teacher, student, etc.?
- If you had an extra $800 a month, what would you do with it? (I say $500 in my demos)
- Based on what you’ve heard tonight, what do you think the best part of my business is?
- If I could show you, teach you, train you, and help you earn that extra $800 or more, would you be interested in hearing more? You can say “Yes” or “Maybe”. “No” means you are afraid of me stalking you and that is so no me!
Sometimes I throw in a 3.5, which is Tell me your impossible dream – Something you would love to do in your life, but just being able to accomplish it seems almost impossible. And of course, I share mine at this point.
Step 4: Connect with the “Yes”s
I immediately give out recruiting packets in pretty gift bags to all the guests who say “Yes” – that they would be interested in hearing more. I’ll share more about what’s in these bags and how I follow up in my next post. The amazing part is that I regularly give out 3 or more of these bags at EVERY PARTY! Talk about effective!
Stay tuned for more next week!
